Description:
The popularity of vegetable or plant proteins is at an all-time high. For years, it was commonly discussed that if someone wanted to maximize their body’s ability to get stronger, bigger, and recover more completely, they needed to consume animal proteins and avoid plant proteins. More research, however, in the past ten years has begun to highlight the ability of plant proteins to positively support changes in strength, muscle mass, and recovery. This presentation will review all of the current literature that summarizes this topic and will highlight some of the key studies that have impacted how we feel about the importance of plant proteins. Topics covered will be the importance of protein, how different proteins are evaluated, the importance of amino acid content found in different types of proteins, how plant and animal proteins are different, and key things someone needs to think about if they want to consume plant proteins.
