Ryan Johnson, MEd, CSCS*D, RSCC*E
Description:
In this lecture, Coach Johnson will describe some of his observations of coaching and how his Identity has evolved over time. As we mature in the profession and develop our style, philosophy, and identity we will see that it can change and grow. Coach Johnson will share his thoughts and feelings on the integration of behavior management and soft skill development and how factors such as these are just as vital to coaching as are the physical outcomes.
The audience will learn how to:
- Understand the significance of coaching as a responsibility beyond equipment and tools. Next to parenting, teaching and coaching is a tremendous responsibility. Coaching is not just about whistles, clipboards, and stopwatches.
- Explore the complexity within simplicity, considering coaching as a refined form of sophistication. Simple does not mean easy.
- Recognize coaching as a service-oriented profession, not a performance profession, and define your Coaching Identity accordingly. How will you provide the service through your Coaching Identity?
- Develop proficiency in applying the Arbinger Pyramid of Influence to shape your coaching mission.
- Gain insight into Acute Childhood Experiences and their potential impact on how individuals respond to various coaching styles influenced by childhood trauma.
